The folks at the Kansas City Barbeque Society are coming to South Dakota in April to conduct a judging school and table captain class.

The event takes place April 23 at the Nordby Exhibit Hall on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron. The judging class runs from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM with the table captain class starting at 2:30 PM.

The classes will give you the chance to become a certified judge after learning the art and mechanics of judging. Competitive barbecuers are also encouraged to take the class to help them understand what judges are looking for in competitions.

Registration is $110 for the judging school and $55 for the table captain class. You do need to be a Kansas City Barbeque Society member to participate.

The deadline to register is April 14.

Those who pass the classes will be given the chance to be a judge or table captain at the Original SD BBQ Championships, which are being held in June as part of Wheel Jam at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds.
