For more than four decades it's been one of the most iconic dining deals on the planet and during that time hasn't changed from its inception back in 1984.

We're talking about the legendary hot dog combo at the Costco food court.

For just $1.50, you get a quarter-pound hot dog and a 20-ounce fountain soda. You can top it free with mustard, ketchup, relish, and onions (if available).

To say this meal deal has been popular is quite the understatement. Costco says it sells an average of 135 million hot dogs each and every year.

During this historic run, there have been rumors of price increases, but those were quickly shot down by the co-founder of the chain, Jim Sinegal, who famously told a former Costco CEO, 'If you raise the [price of the] effing hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out'.

Fast forward to 2026 and the current CEO shares that sentiment. Ron Vachris, who's been in charge since the beginning of 2024, said recently, 'The hot dog price will not change as long as I'm around.'

Well, the price isn't changing, but something else is.

For the first time, hot dog enthusiasts have an additional beverage option to go with their wiener, a 16.9-ounce bottle of Kirkland Signature water.

Yes, water was already an option at the soft drink fountain, but some people have a strong preference for their H2O in bottle, not a cup.

Now you have a choice.

Bon appétit!
