Guy Fieri has a dream job. The popular foodie bounces across America reviewing local staples and get paid handsomely to do it. The spiky-haired traveler has kept journals and notes on his televised journey since 2007 and has some memorable dinners that he remembers well. When he came across the Midwest - named the "bread basket of America" with good reason - he recalls his favorite sandwiches on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

His favorite South Dakota sandwich was found at Look’s Marketplace in Sioux Falls.
Everyone knows Look’s Marketplace is where you can find knowledgeable local butchers, a delicious bakery, award-winning deli, and tasty restaurant. Guy Fieri’s favorite, according to food review on MSN, was the The Porcules, and is described as, "pulled pork, smoked pork brisket, Look’s pit sausage, BBQ sauce, pickled onion, arugula, chili lime mayo on ciabatta." I can attest first hand that the Porcules is a great sandwich!

In Minnesota, when the Triple-D host Fieri visited Al's Breakfast in Minneapolis, he reportedly couldn't get enough of the corned beef hash, peppered with onions, parsley, and horseradish.

Although not a sandwich, Guy's favorite dish in Iowa was Mi Patria, an Ecuadorian restaurant in Des Moines. One of the most-popular dishes is the rice with pulled chicken, vegetables, and fried plantain.

Gone But Not Forgotten - Iconic Sioux Falls: Whiffer's Sandwiches

The Merriam-Webster definition of iconic is "widely recognized and well-established." That would definitely describe Whiffer's Sandwiches which used to call North Minnesota Avenue home.

The gone but not forgotten sandwich shop was located in an old house at 1133 North Minnesota Avenue. It served sandwiches to Sioux Falls from November 1978 until the summer of 2020.
