What’s is South Dakota’s Most Popular Culinary Vice? Steak Tips
South Dakota is beef country and so it comes as no surprise that something in the meat family is our biggest indulgence when it comes to food. And according to a new study, we love our steak tips in the Rushmore State.
Foursquare has just published its list of America's Most Popular Vices. The preferences were determined based on Foursquare data that identified the 'boozy drinks, questionable chow, and other bites and cravings that are most disproportionately popular in each state.'
So how much do we like our steak tips here? A full 46 percent more than any other state in the country. And where do you find the best steak tips in South Dakota? According to Trip Advisor, a quartet of West River establishments top the list:
- Loud American Roadhouse – Sturgis
- Stadium Sports Grill – Belle Fourche
- The Knuckle Saloon – Sturgis
- Rosco'z – Sturgis
Now 46 percent is nice, but that obsession pales in comparison to some of our neighbors.
In Nebraska, they love crinkle cut fries 292% more than any other state.
In Iowa, it's all how you drink your favorite beer. In this case it's out of a boot shaped glass, called 'Das Boot'. Folks in the Hawkeye State love that 359% more than anywhere else. In fact, one bar in Des Moines has very specific rules when it comes to partaking in this practice.
But the folks with the biggest cravings are those crazy Minnesotans who gobble up cream cheese wontons at a whopping 984% more than any other state in America.
