Veterans Parkway Projects To Further Impact Sioux Falls Traffic
The massive road construction project that will eventually link I-90 and I-29 is about to enter a new phase which will bring new traffic challenges to drivers in southern Sioux Falls.
Beginning Tuesday (May 28), a traffic change is planned for South Minnesota Avenue near the future South Veterans Parkway intersection. This traffic change allows construction crews to construct the east half of the Veterans Parkway and Minnesota Avenue intersection. Minnesota Avenue between West 85th Street/270th Street and 271st Street will operate in two-lane traffic through the summer.
The traffic change will result in both lanes of traffic being directed onto the southbound lanes.
Also Tuesday, the intersection of Western Avenue and 95th Street will close to traffic for approximately 11 weeks to allow crews to construct a roundabout, as part of the South Veterans Parkway project.
A detour will be in effect using Minnesota Avenue and Louise Avenue.
The work is part of the South Veterans Parkway project in partnership with the South Dakota Department of Transportation and the City of Sioux Falls. It is the remaining 8.7 miles of Veterans Parkway that will connect Interstate 29 to Interstate 90.
Final completion is scheduled for the end of 2027.
