You can't always believe what you read.

Despite signs indicating that South Sycamore Avenue would be closed for construction starting June 15th, the road remains open.

For now.

The City of Sioux Falls has pushed back the closure one week, now beginning on Monday (June 22nd). That's when the southbound lanes of South Sycamore Avenue will be closed from 57th Street to 69th Street to allow crews to begin crack sealing.

Once repairs are completed, we will be shifting the lane closures to the northbound lanes of South Sycamore Avenue.

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times. Access to businesses, homes, and side streets will be maintained.

This work is anticipated to be completed in one week.

If you are visiting or new to Sioux Falls and trying to find your way around, chances are you really don't need to pronounce street names correctly. All you have to do is enter your destination into Google Maps and your phone will show you the way.
