
Two South Dakota Favorites Are Going into Iowa Rock Hall of Fame
The 2025 Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will have a distinctive South Dakota flair to it with not one, but two bands from the Mount Rushmore State set to be honored.
Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association has confirmed that Kory and The Fireflies and Indigenous are among the bands in the 28th class of honorees.
Kory and the Fireflies were formed in the summer of 1994 by Rapid City native Kory Van Sickle.

From South Dakota To The Hall Of Fame: Band Success Stories
The band has released four full-length CDs as well as two live DVDs and shared the stage with over 80 national acts including; Sheryl Crow, Neil Young, Dave Matthews, John Mellencamp, Journey, and Cheap Trick.
The singles 'Everyone' and 'Pop Fly' both reached the Top 20 in New Music Weekly and 'Pop Fly' has also been played in Major League Baseball Stadiums across the country.
Another single, 'She's Comin' Back Again', aired on more than 20 National TV networks supporting the hit show 'Trading Spaces', while another single, 'Let it Shine' was used for a South Dakota campaign honoring those impacted by COVID.

Indigenous: Proud Moments In Native American Music History
Indigenous is a two-time winner of the Native American Music Awards for Album of the Year and Group of the Year (1998, 1999).
The band got its start on the Yankton Sioux Reservation in Marty when brothers Mato and Pet Nanji, along with their sister Wanbdi and cousin Horse (percussion) formed the group in the 1990's.
Indigenous' debut album, Things We Do, was released in 1998. It featured the single 'Now That You're Gone', which peaked at #22 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.
Amazon named the band Blues Artist of the Year, and they were featured on TV shows like NPR's 'All Things Considered', 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien,' 'CBS Saturday Morning,' and 'Austin City Limits'.
Indigenous has 13 albums to its credit, most recently Gray Skies in 2017.

Kory And The Fireflies: A Musical Journey To Fame
Both Kory and The Fireflies (2023) and Indigenous (2020) are already members of the South Dakota Rock & Rollers Hall of Fame.
The 2025 Iowa Hall of Fame Celebration in Okoboji is scheduled for Labor Day weekend, beginning with Indigenous headlining the Okoboji Rocks Concert on Friday evening, August 29.
The Opening Ceremony is on Saturday morning and the Inductee Meet & Greet will all be on Saturday evening, August 30. Saturday afternoon will be the finals of the statewide Iowa Rocks Talent Contest. This contest is for the youth of Iowa ages 21 and younger to compete in a live performance environment. The winners will open the Hall of Fame Induction Concert on Sunday evening in the Roof Garden Ballroom.
The weekend culminates with the Iowa Rock 'n Roll Induction Ceremony, Concert, and autograph party on Sunday, August 31.
Ticket information for the Hall of Fame celebration will be announced later this year.
