Only one winning ticket was sold for Saturday's tenth largest Powerball drawing in history. It was sold in California and worth around $447 million.

Statistically, South Dakota does not fare very well when it comes to buying winning lottery tickets. According to the number crunchers at USA Today, South Dakota has only sold between 1 and 4 winning tickets.

If you don't like the Rushmore State's odds, perhaps you could take a short trip to the bordering state of 10,000 Lakes. Minnesota fares much better with more than 16 winning tickets sold.

Of course, nothing is a guarantee when it comes to the lottery, but it seems Indiana may be onto something. They sold 39 - a United States high.
