August Was A Lucky Month For South Dakota Lottery Players
While we patiently wait for someone to win the Powerball drawing for the first time in more than three months, South Dakota lottery players continue to earn big bucks.
Cha ching!
The latest big payout? Sunday's (August 31) Lucky for Life drawing, where a ticket purchased at Dakotamart in Fort Pierre captured the game's second prize - the option of $25,000 a year for life or a one-time payment of $390,000.
The South Dakota Lottery is advising the winner to sign the back of the ticket immediately and consult with a financial advisor before claiming the prize. The prize may be claimed by visiting any South Dakota Lottery redemption center.

The second-place winner is the 10th Lucky for Life second-place winner since the game’s South Dakota debut in 2017.
Awesome August
Sunday's big win came on the final day of a month that proved to be quite lucrative for South Dakota lottery players.
It all began on August 6 when someone in Vermilion won $4 million in the Lotto America drawing. That prize has the option of a one-time cash payment of $1,820,000 or 30 graduated annuity payments over the course of 29 years.
A little more than two weeks later, on August 23, a Powerball ticket in Mobridge matched all five winning numbers, but not the Powerball, to trigger a $2 million payout.
Other Winners
Four other players in the state won jackpots ranging from $20,000 to $50,000 in August.
