The 5 Most Bizarre Foods Coming to the 2023 Minnesota State Fair
You may tell people that you're heading to the Minnesota State Fair later this Summer to ride everything you can on the midway while you treat yourself to musical performances from the likes of The Black Keys, The Chicks, Keith Urban, Boyz II Men, Chaka Khan, Brandi Carlile, Wynonna Judd, Duran Duran, and the Jonas Brothers.
But what you aren't telling those around you is that it's the fair food that keeps you coming back. The more off-the-wall the better.
All tolled, there are 34 new food items debuting at the Fairgrounds in St. Paul in 2023, but these five really caught my attention.

This one combines two beloved Minnesota traditions: the Nordic waffle and Kramarczuk's hot dog. It comes with cheddar cheese, pickle slices, and crunchy onions and is drizzled with a burger sauce.
This cold dish brings the heat as Bridgeman's vanilla ice cream is topped with hot honey, spicy peanuts, a dollop of whipped cream, and a cherry on top.
Three great tastes in one! A Green Mill jumbo pizza dough pretzel, Ellsworth cheese curds, pepperoni, and Italian spices topped with garlic butter, and even more cheese.
You know you're in the North Star State when you're chowing down on some steamed lye-cured fish from Olsen Fish Company on a hot Summer day. This one will be baked with hoisin sauce and then stuffed inside a lotus bun, along with cabbage, carrots, and cilantro. It's topped with something they call yum yum sauce.
This is the perfect thing to get that Lutefisk taste out of your mouth! It's exactly what it sounds like - a Betty and Earl's biscuit that's made with fruity cereal milk and cereal bits, all topped with icing that's again been steeped in cereal flavors.
There is no shortage of pickled cucumber-infused items at the fair in 2023, including a Dill Pickle Cheese Curd Taco, Pickle Fries, and even the 'Kind of a Big Dill' Pickle Lemonade.
This year's fair kicks off August 24 and runs through Labor Day, September 4.
