Recall Alert: Coffee Sold in South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota
A simple labeling mistake has triggered a recall of hundreds of cases of coffee sold in South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and 12 other states.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a Class II recall on Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA, the Suffolk, Virginia-based parent company of the Our Family brand.
According to the recall, nearly 700 cases of Our Family Traverse City Ground Coffee were mislabeled as 'decaffeinated. '
The impacted product is Our Family’s Traverse City Cherry-Flavored Light Roast Ground Coffee, which comes in 12-ounce bags and has a best-buy date of August 8, 2025.
The recall included 692 cases of the contaminated product sold in Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
A Class II recall is issued when officials determine that coming into contact with or being exposed to the contaminated product may cause 'temporary or medically reversible health consequences', even though the chances of a person becoming seriously harmed are minimal.
As of now, no illnesses related to the recall have been reported.
