If you bought ice cream in Iowa recently, you'll need to check your freezer before your next late-night sweet treat binge.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall on organic ice cream sold in 17 states, including the Hawkeye State, due to a possible foreign matter contamination.

Six products from  Petaluma, California-based Straus Family Creamery, sold at retail locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin, since May 4, are being recalled because the following pints and quarts may contain metal fragments (UPCs and best-by dates):

  • Cookie Dough (pint) 7-84830-10104-4/26-Dec-2026
  • Dutch Chocolate (quart) 7-84830-10012-2/27-Dec-2026
  • Mint Chip (pint) 7-84830-10050-4/30-Dec-2026
  • Strawberry (pint) 7-84830-10095-5/25-Dec-2026
  • Strawberry (quart) 7-84830-10097-9/24-Dec-2026
  • Vanilla Bean (pint) 7-84830-10030-6; 7-84830-10030-6/23-Dec-2026; 28-Dec-2026

Check your freezer, and if you have any of the recalled ice creams on hand, dispose of them and contact the company for a replacement voucher. You can do this by visiting the recall webpage, emailing support@strausmilk.com or calling 1-707-776-2887, Monday through Friday from 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM CT.

No injuries have been reported.
