Part of 10th Street in Sioux Falls Is Closing for Months
A five-block stretch of 10th Street in Sioux Falls is going to be impacted by road construction for much of the rest of 2024
Starting Tuesday (May 28), West 10th Street will be closed between West Avenue and Euclid Avenue to allow crews to reconstruct the street.
It's all part of the $3 million 10th Street/Pettigrew Neighborhood Street and Utility Improvements Project.
This work will include underground utility improvements, new concrete curb and gutter, new asphalt paving, driveway approach replacement, accessible curb ramp upgrades, and new street lighting.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured to Ninth Street, 11th Street, or 12th Street.
This is the first phase of a multiple-phase project to reconstruct West 10th Street from West Avenue to Menlo Avenue, Covell Avenue from 10th Street to 11th Street, and Menlo Avenue from Ninth Street to 10th Street.
The first phase of the project is anticipated to be completed in mid-August. The overall project is anticipated to be completed in November.
Meanwhile, the city has announced upcoming lane closures for two busy streets.
Beginning Tuesday (May 28), the outside eastbound lane of East 57th Street will be closed between Bahnson Avenue and Graystone Avenue to allow crews to work on improvements to the intersection of 57th Street and Graystone Avenue.
The sidewalk along the south side of 57th Street between Bahnson Avenue and Sycamore Avenue will also be closed with pedestrian traffic detoured to the sidewalk along the north side of 57th Street.
The work is expected to be done by June 28.
Also Tuesday (May 28), the outside northbound lane of South Minnesota Avenue will be closed between 26th Street and 33rd Street to allow crews to complete sidewalk improvements. Southbound traffic will not be impacted at this time.
This is the first of four phases of the project, which includes both sides of Minnesota from 18th Street to 33rd Street. The entire project is anticipated to be completed by August.
