Sagging sales are forcing one nationwide restaurant chain with ten locations in South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota to look at the possibility of closing dozens of its establishments

Red Robin says approximately 70 'underperforming' locations might cease operations by the end of 2025.

The announcement comes of the heels of the Greenwood Village, Colorado-based chain's latest financial reports which show a fourth-quarter decrease of $54.5 million in 2024, compared to 2023.

Overall the company lost $77.5 million in 2024.

As for the status of Red Robin's locations moving forward, a company press release said:

'During the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024, the Company closed one (1) restaurant location upon expiration of the lease and is evaluating alternatives for approximately 70 underperforming restaurant locations, including closure upon expiration of the current lease term. The Company recognized asset impairments and net closure charges of $32.4 million during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024, primarily associated with this review of underperforming restaurants.'
