Fareway Foods Gets The Green Light For Brandon Location

The status of Brandon's newest grocery store has gone from rumor to reality.

Final Hurdle

Last week, by a 5-1 vote, the city council approved a liquor license for a Fareway Foods location, which will be constructed on West Holly Boulevard and Lancer Avenue, in the River Park section of town.

Long Time Coming

Signage on North Sioux Avenue had been teasing the new store since 2022, but there was no formal action from the city until now.

Store Plans

Officials say the new 21,000 square foot store is expected to employ nearly 100 full and part-time workers when it opens in late 2026 or early 2027. Fareway says the location will feature 'full-service butcher counters, farm-fresh produce, competitive prices and to-your-car carryout, as well as FastLanes, a self-service checkout option, and online shopping and curbside pickup.'

The Boone, Iowa-based retailer has 130 stores in six states.
