1922 Abandon Hospital For Sale in South Dakota
In a small town, an abandoned hospital built in 1922 waits for a new owner. Wait...isn't that how several "found footage" horror movies begin? Some say it looks haunted, but it just needs a hug. Perhaps this is just an old building that needs a little TLC and an ambitious fixer-upper.
That's the story unfolding in Canova, South Dakota. Located in Miner County and a mere hour from Sioux Falls, lies an old hospital that once served it's 100 person population.

Over time, the hospital - which also served as the town's medical clinic- became a nursing home. When that shuttered, a large family moved into the 15-room building and moved out in 2012, according to OldHousesUnder50K.
The structure sits on 1.2 acres and is looking for a buyer (at the time of this writing). The advertising literature for the listing suggested it is a perfect place for a hunting/fishing lodge, organization headquarters, baseball club, or Airbnb entrepreneurs. It was originally listed at $53,500 in 2022, but in early March 2025 listing was priced at $79,900.

Most of the Facebook comments from 2022 when it was first featured were of the ghostly variety, with one poster commenting: "Yep. 100% haunted."
But with a little handiwork, this could be a nice place in Canova!
