Jobs can be good or bad. Some are excellent, others are torture. One thing that both good and bad jobs have in common is that they are all capable of stupid rules that everyone is supposed to abide by.

We asked South Dakotans to tell us what the dumbest rules are at their job and we were not disappointed by what they told us.

At my old job, we had daily 30-minute zoom meetings to try and pump us up for the day. We had to be on camera.

Imagine the first thing you have to do every day at work is pretend to be interested in a Ted Talk you don't care about. Gross.

At my job they don't fire people, my manager has literally said "I won't fire them, I'll make them want to quit"

Making life miserable for an employee you want to get rid of seems like a petty and childish way to get them to leave. But if they are a terrible employee, why would you keep them?

Micro-managers who think this is a good way to make employees accountable are just wasting everyone's time. But it would be fun to put 15 minutes of pooping into my calendar every day.

Mine is the opposite. There are no rules. The jerks are allowed to just throw tantrums, yell at people, behave however they want with no accountability or consequences. They've only ever fired ONE person.

While this lack of rules would make for an interesting and sometimes entertaining workplace, it sounds like an awful lot of stress that no one wants to deal with.

All I want to know is the backstory of that rule. What happens if someone poops in that bathroom?
