Bridge Construction On I-90 Means Overnight Lane Closures
An ongoing construction project on Interstate 90 in South Dakota is about to enter a phase.
Timeline
According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, starting June 25 at 7:00 PM, the eastbound and westbound lanes on I-90 at the Brandon exit (Exit 406) will be temporarily closed for crews to set bridge girders. During the closure, traffic will be diverted through the on-ramps and off-ramps and back onto I-90. This traffic diversion is scheduled to remain in place until 7:00 AM on June 26.
The same lane closures and traffic diversions are also planned from 7:00 PM June 26 to 7:00 AM June 27. The second night of the scheduled traffic diversion is for crews to install components to build the bridge deck.

Traffic on South Dakota Highway 11 will be maintained during both overnight traffic diversions and guided through the work zone with the use of flaggers.

Project Overview
This is the second phase of the $41.3 million reconstruction project, which will see a new diverging diamond intersection, new on-ramps and off-ramps, and the replacement of the eastbound I-90 bridge over the BNSF railroad tracks.
Weather permitting, the second phase of construction is expected to be completed in November.
The entire project is scheduled to be finished in June of 2026.
