South Dakota Driver Clocked Doing Double the Limit in Nebraska
An afternoon food run turned out to be very costly for a South Dakota driver on the roads of northeastern Nebraska.
According to the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office, a little after 1:00 PM Sunday (July 14), 19-year-old Ariz Zarate-Gonzalez of Arlington was clocked doing 119 miles per hour in a 65 mile-per-hour zone on Highway 57 about 25 miles southeast of Norfolk.
So what would possess someone to drive that fast?
The incident report says Zarate-Gonzalez told deputies that he was in a hurry to get home but needed to stop at Raising Canes first to get chicken strips.
He's been charged with speeding and careless driving.
Zarate-Gonzalez wasn't the only driver from the Mount Rushmore State to run afoul of law enforcement in the area Sunday. According to the Stanton County Sherriff's weekly bookings page, 22-year-old Brady Strum of Brookings was ticketed for doing 79 miles per hour in a 65-miles-per-hour-zone.
