
Missing Nebraska Wedding Ring Ends Up in Sioux Falls
A wedding ring that went missing at a Nebraska YMCA has led to an arrest after police say the ring was sold at a pawn shop in Sioux Falls.
According to the Norfolk Police, officers were called to the YMCA there on May 27th after a woman reported her wedding ring missing. The woman told staff she believed she accidentally left the ring on a treadmill while working out.
Surveillance footage showed a man finding the ring on a treadmill and leaving with it. He was later identified as 66-year-old Thomas Schaefer of Randolph, Nebraska.

During a phone interview with investigators, Schaefer initially said he and his wife had the ring but needed time to locate it. Police said he later admitted selling the ring to a Sioux Falls pawn shop for approximately $800.
Schaefer turned himself in to the Norfolk Police Division on June 21st. He was arrested for theft and booked into the Norfolk City Jail before being transferred to the Madison County Jail.
