Surprise! Sioux Falls’ Newest Restaurant Is Now Open
Ever since Cherry Creek Grill closed last year on East 26th Street in Sioux Falls last year, we've all been wondering just when we could look forward to a new restaurant opening up in that space.
Well, that day is today (May 2).
With absolutely no advance notice or fanfare. Gibs Sports Bar opened its doors, making it official on Facebook.
Gibs' menu features a variety of apps, burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, and salads.
According to the Gibs website, the restaurant takes its name from Gilbert 'Gibs' Otto Rentschler, a barber from a small town in Indiana, and Jack Gilbert Rentschler Senior’s father. Jack was the founder of the Rentschler’s Truck Stop and passed down his name to three more generations of Jack Gilbert Rentschlers. The set of Jacks opened Gateway Bar and Grill in 2003.
The Monster Burger on the Gibs menu is the same burger that was created at the truck stop years ago.
Gibs will be open seven days a week from 11:00 AM to 2:00 AM.
