Drivers on Interstate 29 in Sioux Falls are in for a new traffic headache.

Starting Monday (April 21), work is scheduled to begin on the I-29 northbound structure over Skunk Creek in Sioux Falls. During this construction project, the northbound on-ramp at 26th Street will be closed as work is completed in the east two lanes of I-29.

Traffic will be maintained in the westbound two lanes.

This lane configuration and ramp closure are scheduled to be in effect until June 13.

At that time, traffic will be switched to the newly constructed east two lanes of I-29 at 26th Street. Work will then begin on the west two lanes at this location.

The work is part of a $7.4 million project that is expected to be completed in August.
