More Traffic Headaches Coming to Interstate 229 in Sioux Falls
The start of the latest phase in the reconstruction of an interchange on Interstate 229 in Sioux Falls will bring with it some new traffic challenges for drivers.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation has announced that beginning Thursday (August 29), the northbound lane at Cliff Avenue between the I-229 (Exit 4) northbound on-ramp and southbound off-ramp in Sioux Falls will be closed.
The closure will allow crews to install a retaining wall for a temporary bridge.
The closure is expected to be in place until Friday, September 6.
This work is part of a larger project that will modify the median crossovers on Cliff Avenue in preparation for an interchange reconstruction project. The $5.6 million project is expected to be completed by December 2024.
