In the not-too-distant future, late-night travelers on Interstate 229 in Sioux Falls will have to allow some extra time to get where they're going.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation has announced plans for a pair of nighttime closures in the coming days.

The first occurs on Wednesday (November 20), when northbound I-229 will be closed between Louise Avenue and Western Avenue from 8:00 PM until 6:00 AM on Thursday (November 21).

The second occurs on Thursday (November 21), when southbound I-229 will be closed between Western Avenue and Louise Avenue from 8:00 PM until 6:00 AM on Friday (November 22).

The closures will allow crews to install sign structures over the interstate.

During the closures, drivers should follow signed detour routes using 57th Street.
