Last Des Moines Food Tour: Jethro’s BBQ, You’d Better Be Hungry – Really Hungry!

If you are the type of person that loves BBQ and have a hearty appetite, then you definitely need to stop into Jethro's BBQ. They have 7 locations in Iowa. I heard about this place on Man vs. Food. In fact, they shot two episodes here. Both hosts, Adam Richman couldn't take down the Emmenecker Challenge which consists a Spicy Pickle ‘ Bun ‘ Pork Tenderloin, Buffalo Chicken Tenders, White Cheddar Sauce, Fried Cheese Cubes, Texas brisket, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Cheese Burger, OH YEAH….AND A POUND OF WAFFLE FRIES!!!

Unfortunately, I did not take on this challenge. We stopped in there for brunch and I ordered Jethro's Breakfast and let me tell ya, this plate was loaded!  It starts off with their ginormous tenderloin, topped it with hashbrowns, three extra large eggs scrambled with bacon, Carolina pulled pork and pit ham, all topped with your favorite cheese and a side of toast. This was a lot of food which I could not finish.

Another item on the list that caught my eye was the "Oink." This baby is packed with SIXTEEN extra large eggs, folded with a full pound of Jethro's house-smoked pit ham and a double helping of American and white cheddar cheese sauce. Definitely gonna order that next time.

So as you can see there are plenty of great places to eat in the Des Moines area. I will be back!
