These continue to be very challenging times for some of the biggest retail chains in America.

Higher costs of doing business and a depleted labor supply have forced several companies to scale back operations nationwide.

Kohl's Responds To Market Challenges By Closing 27 Stores

The latest is Kohl’s, which has announced that it will shutter 27 stores in 15 different states. Those locations were identified as 'struggling' by the company.

The action comes after the Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin-based chain posted its 11 straight quarter of declining sales.

The hardest hit state will be California, which will lose ten stores. Illinois, Ohio, and Virginia will lose two locations in each state.

After the closures, Kohl’s will still have more than 1,150 locations.

51 of those stores are in South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota. Those three states did not have a location on the closing list.
