List Of All The Data Centers In South Dakota

You might not think of South Dakota as a major data-center destination, but there are quite a few facilities scattered around the state and more projects are being proposed.

The tricky part is that there isn't one official statewide list, and different data-center directories count facilities differently.

One current directory identifies 11 data centers in South Dakota, while another independently verified directory lists 9 facilities.

The differences can come from whether a directory counts individual buildings, telecommunications facilities, planned projects or entire campuses.

Here are facilities and projects currently appearing in South Dakota data-center directories:

2. TierPoint Sioux Falls: West — Sioux Falls
3. Midco Sioux Falls: Sioux Falls
4. SDN Communications La Mesa Data Center: Sioux Falls
5. SDN Communications Campus: Sioux Falls
6. Midco Yankton: Yankton
7. Golden West Rapid City Facility: Rapid City
8. Sequitor Edge Rapid City Data Center: Rapid City
9. ADP South Dakota: Minnehaha County
10. Sioux Falls Technology Park / Gemini Data Center: Brandon area
11. South Dakota State University Research Cyberinfrastructure: Brookings

There are also proposed or developing projects that could significantly expand South Dakota's data-center footprint.

These include a proposed Leola Data Center in McPherson County and a planned Gemini Data Center project in the Sioux Falls area.

A proposed Sequitor Edge facility has also been reported for Rapid City.
