Iowa Driver Clocked Going 102 MPH, but That’s Not the Worst of It
It's been nearly 40 years since Tom Cruise uttered one of the most memorable lines in movie history when his character Lt. Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell proclaimed his 'need for speed' in 1986's Top Gun.
Lately, around here, that need to go fast has become a bit of a problem.
First was the announcement from the Sioux Falls Police Department about eight arrest warrants being issued for street racing which involved up to 50 vehicles.
Shortly after that, a story out of eastern Iowa took excessive driving to a whole new level.
It happened on Interstate 80 near West Branch when a driver doing speeds of over 100 miles per hour, blew past a State Trooper.
We'll let the Iowa State Patrol take it from there:
102 miles per hour AND an unbuckled kid in the backseat?
That is a special kind of stupid!
Let's hope it's a long time before that person is allowed to get behind the wheel again.
