Sioux Falls Welcomes Delta Flight 2668 After Brief Diversion

A flight from Atlanta to Minneapolis made an unexpected stop in Sioux Falls over the weekend.

Delta Airlines Flight 2668 departed Hartsfield-Jackson International (ATL) at 7:25 AM ET, Sunday (June 28th) for the two-hour 35 minute journey to Minneapolis-St. Paul International (MSP) with a scheduled arrival time at 9:00 AM CT.

According to Delta, at some point during the flight the Airbus A321 experienced an 'operational irregularity' and was diverted to Sioux Falls Regional Airport (FSD) as a 'precautionary safety response'. The flight landed at 11:14 AM CT.

No specifics were provided on the incident and no emergency was declared.

The airlines define an 'operational irregularity' (IROP) as 'any unplanned disruption, delay, or cancellation that prevents a system from functioning according to its published schedule.'
