The Farmer's Almanac may have dampened our spirits if we're looking for a nice warm spring to end this seemingly endless cold winter. The 205-year-old publication is predicting - in their words - a "soggy, shivery spring ahead" for the upper Midwest.

"According to our long-range outlook, temperatures will be slow to warm. In fact, around the time of the vernal equinox unseasonably cold temperatures may be gripping many parts of the country, extending the “shiver and shovel” portion of our outlook. We are predicting a “soggy, shivery spring ahead.” ~ 2023 Farmer's Almanac

Remember how the Farmer's Almanac had "shiver and shovel" for much of the country in its 2022-2023 outlook? That prediction had definitely come to pass as South Dakota had had record snow amounts already...and it's only February 1.

Our only hope now lies in the Punxsutawney Phil groundhog and whether he'll see his shadow,

The official arrival of the spring equinox is March 20 at 4:24 P.M.
