It begins with someone calling, texting, or emailing you looking for your PIN due to 'fraudulent activity in your account.

The next step is to claim that the bank needs you to hand over either your debit or credit card or the computer chip from it for a 'recycling initiative'. In the wrong hands, access to those items could compromise your account.

Bank officials are reminding customers that they would never ask for either your PIN or card and to contact them immediately if anyone asks you for either.
