These Iowa, Minnesota Breweries Are among the 30 Best in America
At last count, there were nearly 10,000 breweries up and running in the United States, which happens to be an all-time high.
I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of these craft brew establishments believe that on some level they are the best they can be.
But only a select few can actually lay claim to the fact that they've been singled out as the cream of the cop.
A pair of Tri-State area brewers know the feeling.
Recently Vinepair consulted publicans, beverage directors, and buyers from some of the country’s top beer pubs to compile a list of the 30 Best Breweries in the Country Right Now.
One Iowa and one Minnesota establishment made the select cut.
In the Hawkeye State, Gezellig Brewing Company in Newton is in the Top 30.
This brewery first opened in 2019 and is 100 percent female-owned, by Pella residents Betsy Duffy and Mindi Vanden Bosch.
Gezellig, which is Dutch for 'that warm feeling you get with you are with your loved ones',
Gezellig is best known for Magic Carpet Ride, a dank, citrusy, and fruity double IPA, as well as their flagship beer, Liquid Hug, a lager that is consistently their best seller.
In the North Star State, Forager Brewery in Rochester is on the elite list.
It opened in April 2021 and has quickly developed a following for imperial stouts like Pudding Goggles, which features chocolate malt, coconut, and vanilla beans, as well as Sherpa's Survival Kit, with cocoa, baking chocolate, and nuts.
What sets Forager apart from a lot of other breweries is their on-site full kitchen which serves up apps, wood-fired pizzas, entrees, and desserts. They even have a cafe with coffee and tea and various breakfast items.
