- Butterbeer Ice Cream
Harry Potter fans rejoice! The popular wizarding beverage from the film series is coming to Des Mones in a frozen form. It's described as tasting 'a little bit like less-sickly butterscotch'.
- Catfish or Walleye in a Boat or on a Stick
Get your fish fix in whichever form you prefer.
- Cotton Candy Cheese Cake
Cheese Cake is taking a page from the craft beer playbook with just about flavor possibility becoming a reality. This delivery method of cotton candy isn't as likely to stick to your fingers as the blue and pink stuff that comes in a bag.
- Iowa Twinkie-Jalapeno Filled with Pulled Pork, Corn, and Cream Cheese, Wrapped in Bacon, Smoked with Sweet and Sticky BBQ, and Finished with Ranch
This may set the record for the sheer number of unlikely ingredients crammed into one item. In my wildest dreams, I can't begin to imagine what this might taste like.
- Peanut Butter Cream Donuts
You love it on toast, why not enjoy some PB in your donuts?
The 2023 Iowa State Fair runs August 10 through 20 at the State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.

Standing Where South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota Meet
Wanna stand in three states at once? You can do just that at the Tri-State Iron Monument just outside the city of Valley Springs, South Dakota.
It's a simple monument, but it's neat to know so much history lies in the area. You just have to know where to look.
