Tedeschi Trucks Band Announce ‘Wheels of Soul’ Summer Tour
The Tedeschi Trucks Band will return to the road for their third annual Wheels of Soul Tour, with the Wood Brothers and Hot Tuna as special guests. They've added a second, tour-closing night at Red Rocks to a slate that already includes stops in Indianapolis, Cincinnati and other cities. A complete list of just-announced venues and dates is below.
Derek Trucks, a former member of the Allman Brothers Band, and Susan Tedeschi lead the 12-piece ensemble. Oliver Wood co-wrote a song on the Tedeschi Trucks Band's 2011 debut, and both Tedeschi and Trucks appeared on the Wood Brothers' 2015 album Paradise. Hot Tuna, formed as a Jefferson Airplane offshoot in 1969, is still led by Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen.
"It's been great to develop this tour into an annual event where we get a chance to hit the road and share the stage with fellow musicians we love and respect," Tedeschi said in a press release. "Each year, we try to find bands that share our musical vision while bringing their own unique talents to this traveling circus."
The Tedeschi Trucks Band have played more than 200 dates a year since their founding in 2010. Let Me Get By, from last year, was the group's third studio album; each has reached the Billboard Top 15. A new live album is reportedly in the works.
"Tedeschi Trucks is arguably one of the greatest bands in the world today," Kaukonen said. "It is an honor for me and my Hot Tuna brothers to be part of this great tour."
Fan pre-sale for most of these shows begins on Jan. 24. General ticketing for all shows -- except those in Vienna and Virginia Beach, Va., Raleigh, Atlanta and Charlotte -- starts on Jan. 27. Additional dates are expected to follow; to find out more, go to the band's website.
