The impact of dealing with COVID-19 for the past two years has affected different people in a variety of ways.

For some, the pandemic has been about dealing with health challenges.

For others, the economic fallout from coronavirus has forced them to greatly alter their lives from a work perspective.

The pandemic has also been the backdrop for a sizable amount of relocation across America and South Dakota has certainly benefitted from that.

According to numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Mount Rushmore State saw an additional 8,000 people move in from July 2020 to July 2021. That's an increase of just about one percent, which is the tenth highest rate in the nation.

South Dakota's two largest cities have also seen an influx of new faces during the pandemic.

According to 24/7 Wall St, Sioux Falls and Rapid City are among the top 45 cities that have added the most people over the past year or so.

The population in Sioux Falls is up by 4,500 people (45th overall); an increase of 1.6 percent.

Rapid City grew by an even bigger percentage.

South Dakota's second-largest city added 2,651 people (36th overall); an increase of 1.9 percent.
