You Won’t Outrun The South Dakota Highway Patrol’s New Camaro
Chances are you will not be able to outrun the South Dakota Highway Patrol's new Camaro LT1 - nor should you try. This machine packs over 450 horsepower and can hit 60 mph in less than 4 seconds. This high-performance Chevrolet with a 6.2 liter V-8 can scorch the roads with speeds of 180 mph.
So, why would the South Dakota Highway Patrol need this demon?
The answer may lie in a 2021 posting from the SDHP on Facebook. In a span of only 30 minutes, the patrolman on duty arrested 3 separate individuals cruising at speeds of well over 100 mph on I-29 with the fastest perp rocketing at 149mph. The other two were clocked at 111 mph, and 113 mph. This is only one posting from the SDHP regarding high speeds but we all know there are many more.
Have you ever been cruising on a South Dakota interstate at the posted speed of 80 mph and someone flies by you like you're standing still? At those high speeds, there is very little reaction time and is a life-threatening situation for all those on the road.
This is where a patrol car like a Camaro LT1 would be extremely useful and could quite definitely save lives.
Welcome to the SDHP fleet, Camaro!
