Even though the water levels at Lake Oahe outside Pierre, SD are at record lows over the last month or so, the big fish are still being caught and harvested.

The most recent example of a big fish coming out of Lake Oahe occurred last week as a record-setting fish was pulled from the lake.

According to the South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks Department, Kyle Manning of Pierre harvested the record-setting Chinook salmon.

The monster salmon weighed in at over 17 pounds and 36 inches long with maybe the most amazing metric was the fish being 21 inches around.

Manning used a crossbow to catch the Chinook salmon and it comes in as the king fish this winter as many others pulled large salmon that didn't match up to this record-setter.
