Oscar Nominee Is AARP’s Next Free Movie in Sioux Falls
You don't get a lot of opportunities to enjoy a night of free entertainment these days, but you'll have your chance later this month in downtown Sioux Falls.
November 18 is the next Free Monday Movie at the State Theater on Phillips Avenue. Showtime is 7:00 PM.
The event is sponsored by AARP South Dakota.
This month's feature film is Nebraska.
This black-and-white film from 2013 stars Bruce Dern, Will Forte, June Squibb, Stacy Keach, and Bob Odenkirk.
It follows an elderly Montana resident and his son as they try to claim a million-dollar sweepstakes prize on a long trip to Nebraska. Part of the movie also takes place in Rapid City.
The film was nominated for six awards at the 2014 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Dern, Best Supporting Actress for Squibb, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography.
It earned $27.7 million at the box office on a $13.5 million budget.
The Sioux Falls showing is open to AARP members and non-members alike. Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance.
