A Sioux Falls man is behind bars after authorities say he tried to rob a Westside bank Tuesday (October 10) morning.

According to reports, 39-year-old Matthew John Timoney walked into the Wells Fargo branch at 41st Street and Marion Road at about 9:30 AM. He presented a note to a cashier explaining this was a robbery. He received money from the cashier and wandered inside the building until he was detained by other customers until police arrived.

He was arrested for Robbery second-degree, and Petty Theft.

Authorities say no weapons were used in the attempted robbery.

The incident is being investigated by the FBI and the Sioux Falls Police Department.
