You probably have noticed that the change drops the word bakery from the name, but don't panic, the company says bakeries will still exist within their locations.

Perkins says their menus will be changing as well, but gave no specifics except that customers will see those new items over the next several months.

The restaurant was founded by Matt and Ivan Perkins in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1958 as Perkins Pancake House. The company changed its name to Perkins Family Restaurant in 1987 and now operates 266 locations in 32 states and Canada.

Perkins currently has 13 South Dakota locations, 23 Iowa locations, and 52 Minnesota locations.
