If you've noticed someone suddenly becoming very generous with top-shelf drinks around Sioux Falls this week, there might be a reason.

Someone has stolen thousands of dollars in hooch from a Sioux Falls business.

Sioux Falls Police are investigating what can only be described as a real-life "hooch heist" after someone broke into a liquor storage shed and made off with thousands of dollars worth of alcohol.

According to Dakota News Now, officers were called to a business near West Russell Street and North West Avenue on Tuesday, July 14, after receiving a report of a burglary. When they arrived, they discovered that an unknown suspect had forced their way into a storage shed that was packed with multiple cases of liquor.

Police estimate the combined cost of the stolen booze and the damage caused during the break-in to be around $6,500.

Unfortunately for investigators, the suspect didn't leave behind many clues. As of now, Sioux Falls Police have no leads in the case and are asking the public for help in tracking down the person responsible for this spirited crime.

Of course, if someone you know suddenly has an unusually well-stocked home bar or starts insisting everyone order the expensive stuff, it might start raising a few eyebrows.

Police are encouraging anyone with information about the burglary to contact Crime Stoppers of the Sioux Empire by calling 605-367-7007 or leave information by submitting a tip online. All tips remain completely anonymous.

If your information leads to an arrest or helps solve the case, you could even be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

Here's hoping police can put a cork in this case soon and find the person responsible before they decide it's time for another round.
