When it comes to burgers, there definitely is one for everyone, especially in Sioux Falls! Sponsored by First Western Bank & Trust, the 10th annual Downtown Sioux Falls Burger Battle features burgers residents can sink their teeth into. This next burger called the "Truffle Jam Burger" comes from Crawford's. This is another Burger Battle first for me! This is my first burger from Crawford's during the January competition. Anything with truffle as an ingredient sounds delicious to me.

According to a previous article from my co-worker Jeff Harkness, the Truffle Jam is a "Pretzel bun, prime beef patty, tomato pepper jam, baby arugula, jalapeño bacon, and black truffle cheese. Finished with Truffle parmesan chips." You would think this burger would be a little spicy with the jalapeño bacon. However, the flavors balance out perfectly and you can barely taste the jalapeño.

One of my favorite parts about this burger was the pretzel bun. It complimented the black truffle cheese and the baby arugula. It was also easy to eat despite the juicy patty and the toppings with it. The service was top-notch. It was a busy Saturday night, however the waitress always came around to check-in during our meal. She was very accommodating. Overall, it's another great burger in this year's Burger Battle!

Go to one of the restaurants
Eat the burger

Some foods need a fryer, others should never go near one. Forget baking. We are so obsessed with eating deep-fat fried foods. And every time you turn around, there's another menu filled with most of the items that have bathed in a hot-boiling fat vat.

There seems to be no end to what a deep fat fryer can cook. And we prove it every day with our love of crispy, greasy, burnt-tongue, salty foods.

I won't argue that an order of onion rings or sweet potato fries is the best marriage partner to a burger. Especially when they are made from scratch. So, pile them high.
