Iowa Made Ice Cream Recalled

A massive amount of ice cream, made by a company from Iowa, is the subject of a nationwide recall.

How many containers are impacted?

Le Mars based Wells Enterprises, the company that produces the Blue Bunny and Halo Top ice cream brands, has voluntarily recalled nearly 18,000 containers of ice cream and frozen yogurt ,due to batches possibly containing pieces of plastic. Wells has acknowledged that the plastic may cause dental injury or choking.

To date, no injuries have been reported.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, the recall includes 22 flavors sold in three-gallon tubs, which were distributed at more than 100 centers across the U.S., including locations in Iowa.

The products have “use by” dates ranging from March 2026 through October 2026:

The FDA categorized the recall as Class II, meaning consumption of the product can cause 'temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences'.

The company is working closely with the FDA to investigate the root cause of the contamination and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
