For as little as $30 you can literally save the life of a stranger this Christmas

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue is partnering with Nyberg’s Ace to bring smoke alarms to households in need across the city.

Getting involved is easy.

Go to any participating Nyberg's Ace location and purchase one of the two of alarms available:

  • Hardwired Smoke Alarms for $29.99 each
  • Hardwired Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms for $59.99 each

Store employees will place the alarm in the Sioux Falls Fire and Rescue donation bin and those alarms will be installed in homes throughout the community.

There are no restrictions on the number of alarms customers can donate.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, working smoke alarms reduce the risk of dying in a home fire by 55 percent. However, three out of every five home fire deaths occur in properties without working smoke alarms or any alarms at all.

If you are in need of an alarm, you can sign up for installation by calling 211. For more information visit siouxfalls.gov/fire or follow Sioux Falls Fire Rescue on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
