If you're having second thoughts about letting your child play contact football, some new technology might soon provide you with a little peace of mind.

Researchers are currently working on a smartphone app that will theoretically be able to tell you whether your child has suffered a concussion.

Currently, once a football player is hit in the head, coaches grab their phones to record the time of the incident and to look for a list of symptoms.

The smartphone app that is currently being worked on will actually focus on the player's eyes, specifically their pupils, to look for any sign of trouble.

Usually, enlarged pupils is a sign that there may be a problem - but not every time, which has some worried that coaches and parents may rely too heavily on the app.

The smartphone app is currently in the clinical stages.
