Comfort Food Items Recalled in South Dakota, Minnesota
Over the years, the pairing of macaroni and cheese has been a tremendous source of comfort for so many of us, but this mac and cheese story is anything but comfortable.
A variety of macaroni and cheese products sold in South Dakota, Minnesota, and three other states, are part of a recall by the manufacturer.
The Food and Drug Administration is reporting that two varieties of the product have been recalled in a voluntary move by Beaverton, Oregon-based Reser's Fine Foods.
The recall was issued over fears that the product has been spoiled due to temperature abuse, as the result of a malfunctioning refrigeration unit on a trailer.
The products are:
- Reser's American Classics Macaroni & Cheese White Cheddar - 12 oz
- Reser's American Classics Sensational Sides Macaroni & Cheese - 12 oz.
The products have the codes 71117.02009 and 71117.02123 which can be found on the bar code. They are distributed in South Dakota, Minnesota, California, Illinois, and North Dakota.
The FDA is classifying the recalls as a Class II risk, which is defined as, 'a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.'
Other products with the Class II risk warning are also included in the recall:
- Reser's Essential Everyday Original Potato Salad – 16 oz
- Reser's American Classics Scalloper Potatoes – 12 oz
- Reser's American Classics Asiago Creamed Spinach – 12 oz
