
South Dakota’s Cheryl Ladd Celebrates Charlie’s Angels Legacy On Emmy Stage
A South Dakota native was back on prime time television Monday (September 14) night.
Actress Cheryl Ladd, who was born and raised in the Huron area, joined Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith at the 78th Emmy Awards to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Charlie's Angels, which debuted on ABC in September of 1976.
The trio went on to present the Best Drama Emmy to The Pitt.

In 1977, Ladd replaced Farrah Fawcett in Season Two, playing the part of Kris Monroe for the next four seasons. She appeared in 93 episodes before the show was cancelled in 1981.
She was born Cheryl Jean Stoppelmoor, July 12, 1951, in Huron and later moved to Hollywood, where she landed her first big role, providing the singing voice of Melody Valentine on the TV series Josie and the Pussycats for 16 episodes between 1970 and 1971.
In the 1990's, Ladd appeared in 21 episodes of One West Waikiki Dawn, playing 'Holli' Holliday, M.E.
More recently, she appeared as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars in 2022. Her last acting credit was playing Joan in the TV movie A Christmas for the Ages in 2023.
In April of this year, during a Charlie's Angels panel at PaleyFest, Ladd revealed she was recovering from breast cancer.
