Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s 50th Anniversary Tour Starts in Iowa
When legendary 70's rockers Bachman-Turner Overdrive hit the road for the first time in five years, it will be to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
And the festivities will begin in Iowa.
Randy Bachman has announced that BTO's 50th Anniversary Tour will kick off at Arnold's Park at Lake Okoboji in Iowa, Friday, August 18 at 7:30 PM.
After finding success with The Guess Who, Randy Bachman left at the height of the group's popularity in 1970 and in 1971 formed Brave Belt with his brothers Robbie on drums, Tim on rhythm guitar, and Gary as manager.
Bassist and singer Fred Turner was brought on board in 1972, at the suggestion of Neil Young, and the group eventually changed their name to Bachman-Turner Overdrive.
BTO's debut album was released May 17, 1973, the first of five albums over the next 2-1/2 years. Three of those albums landed in the Top Five in the U.S., including the #1 Not Fragile in 1974.
The band also had five Top 40 singles during that time, topping the Billboard Hot 100 with 'You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet' for one week in November 1974.
In March of 2014, the classic Not Fragile line-up reunited for the first time since 1991 to mark Bachman–Turner Overdrive's induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
Sadly, two members of the band passed away earlier this year, Robbie Bachman on January 12, and Tim Bachman on April 28.
Tickets for the Arnold's Park show range from $45 to $65 (plus taxes and fees). They will be an additional $5 on the day of the show.
