John Mulaney Brings Laughs To Lake Okoboji This August
It'll be a night of laughs by the lake on the shores of Iowa's Lake Okoboji this summer.
Emmy Award winning comedian John Mulaney is bringing his 'Mister Whatever' tour to the Arnolds Park 'Live at the Lake' concert series at Preservation Plaza.
The show is Friday, August 14th, at 7:30 PM.
The Chicago-native got his start in comedy after graduating from Georgetown University in 2004 when he moved to New York City and was hired as an office assistant at Comedy Central.
Mulaney was asked to audition for Saturday Night Live in August 2008, and was hired as a writer. He spent the next four seasons writing monologues for the hosts and creating the character of Stefon with Bill Hader. During his time at SNL, he won an Emnmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for Justin Timberlake's monologue.
Mulaney later won three Emmys in the Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special category for John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City (2018), John Mulaney: Baby J (2023), and SNL: 50th Anniversary Special (2025).
Over the years, he has released seven comedy specials on Comedy Central and Netflix.
Most recently, Mulaney hosted John Mulaney Presents: Everybody's in LA, a six-episode live series on Netflix on May of 2024. That show has now morphed into Everybody's Live with John Mulaney, which premiered on Netflix on March 12, 2025.
