Christine McVie Not Returning to Fleetwood Mac

It appears that Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood has been instructed to stop trying to get Christine McVie to return to the band. McVie was part of their highly successful reunion tour captured on 1998's 'The Dance,' but opted out when they reconvened in 2003 to work on a new album ('Say You Will') and tour, as has not been back since.

Stevie Nicks says she called Mick Fleetwood out for accusing her earlier this year of putting her solo work ahead of Fleetwood Mac. Back in March, Fleetwood told Playboy, "I don't believe Fleetwood Mac will ever tour again, but I really hope we do. We have rehearsed and prepared for it since 2010. We were supposed to tour in 2011, but we delayed it for a year to allow Stevie Nicks to support her solo record and for Lindsey Buckingham to do the same with his. I've always been supportive of my bandmates doing solo albums, so long as we kept our band together. . . I played drums on most of Stevie's album, the one she is still out there supporting and the one that is the reason that, for now, she refuses to do a Fleetwood Mac tour. It comes down to her."

"Go Your Own Way" has topped Ultimate Classic Rock's list of Top 10 Fleetwood Mac songs. The track, which was released in December 1976 as a teaser to the following year's blockbuster Rumours album, is one of only three Top 10 hits Lindsey Buckingham wrote for the band. Coming in at Number Two is Stevie Nicks' 1977 companion piece to "Go Your Own Way" -- the band's one and only Number One hit, "Dreams" -- which also chronicled hers and Buckingham's romantic breakup. The Top Three is rounded out with the title track and first single from 1979's sprawling, experimental double album, Tusk.
